Grand Hotel Di Como

COST: Can't comment on the pre-set rates from Travbuddy but all I can say is, it's not what's I paid and not what I saw from their rates board at the hotel. Prices are in Euros to start with, at around $150 Euro for standard room.

SERVICE: Staff are generally nice, they are generally helpful if you ask politely. ALL the male staff are way more friendlier than the women staff at the concierge however this was opposite for the cleaners and waiterstaff, where the women were way nicer, more helpful and approachable. The hotel has this international exchange program with other hotels in countries all over the world, and I can say that the trainee staff were great.

BREAKFAST: Pretty good Italian style buffet, great pastries that are made by the in-house chef, the croissants are here are even better than the ones I ate in France. VERY GOOD BREAKFAST and GREAT coffees.

LOCATION: OK, let's no kid ourselves here, if you're going to make the effort to get yourself to Lake Como, and given that Como is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my entire life, it's also a quiet place with spectacular views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Como ifself. So my tip is if you you're looking for a conference / function hotel, Grand Hotel Di Como is great, otherwise, GET ANOTHER HOTEL by the lake, Como is famous for it's lake.

PARKING: There is free and safe street parking on roads surrounding hotel as well as paid hotel underground parking (does cost a bit though, I think it was around 30 Euro per day, don't quote me but this is the best I can remember, my mind wandered off when they said the word cost.

ROOM/HOTEL: Good rooms, not sound proof on windowside, but definitely is between rooms and front entry door. So you will hear outside loud noises such as concerts nearby. The rooms are excellent, very clean but DOES NOT have a kettle with complimentary tea or coffee. They charge me 3 Euros for a cup of hot water so that I could make my baby's milk bottle. Does come with minibar though.

RECOMMENDATION: Again, what can I say, if you you're looking for a conference / function hotel, Grand Hotel Di Como is great, otherwise, GET ANOTHER HOTEL by the lake, Como is famous for it's lake and views. Anywhere that you stay in Como is nearby, as Como has great public transport. NOT a family or holiday resort / hotel, no outdoor swimming pool and this hotel does not have any lake views or views of the Swiss Alps at all.

Good location, very spacious and clean rooms. Enormous bed. Plan to go back there.read entire review at TravelPost.com
