Nice hotel. Bad location for visiting Amsterdam Sep 11, 2009
I ended up staying at the Grand Amstelveen due to a bit of confusing with a tour group my travel agent used. Compared to some of the places I had stayed in during my trip the Grand Amstelveen was a nice place. The biggest problem for me was that it was about a 35 minute ride via the metro trams to get here. It is also a 10-15 minute walk from the metro station to the hotel.
I don't know how they decided to number the rooms. I walked up the stairs to the 1st Floor and was in Room 100. The first rooms closest to the elevator were 101 and 102. Room 100 was all the way at the end of the hall. I typically expect 100 to come before 101 and 102, but maybe I'm just crazy. Anyway, the room was spacious. I would call the bed a double, but it's just 2 single beds side by side. The bathroom was separated into a small toilet area and a much larger shower/bath/vanity area. Very nicely done, I thought. This place required you to pay for WiFi, which always bugs me. It had a relatively good breakfast that had various pastries, cereals, fruits, and some fried eggs. Very nice place. Very far from Amsterdam. Too expensive for the location. WiFi should be free. Part of the United Kingdom, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam 2009 travel blog |
