Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands and contains the capital George Town. Towns on the island are referred to as "districts".
The island is a high-lying reef of "iron shore" (limestone fringes with numerous marine fossils), with the highest elevation a couple of feet a…

Pulling into Grand Cayman was quite
suprising. It was unlike any Carribean island I had visited in the past. Gone
were the lush hillsides and ever present were the stores, restaurants, banks and
shipping piers. This is not at all what I expected but I go into everything
wi…

There was only one stop before Roatan, where we'd be disembarking, and that was Grand Cayman. I had lived in Cayman 10 years before, so I was kind of interested to see it again. It hadn't been one of my favourite places that I've been: too flat and overdeveloped for my taste, and t…

We got up at around 7am to head to the Cayman Brac International Airport (I'm pretty sure it's only "international" because the small plane makes trip to Cuba occasionally). BJ had told us that they 8:30am flight we were on would be stopping on Little Cayman and then heading on t…

Grand Cayman was the least favorite of the four ports we visited. Last year when we went I had a great experience swimming with stingrays and this time I wanted to see more of the island. It's not a terrible place, don't get me wrong. In fact, it's beautiful. It's just the t…

I figured since I was coming to Grand Cayman and everyone talks about the beauty of the Seven Mile Beach area, I should at least stay one night. Hotels were more expensive and obviously much more crowded. The beach was definitely beautiful but so much harder to appreciate when it's pack…

My trip to the Grand Cayman in February of 2007. We went swimming with giant stingrays, went to a turtle farm/rehab, celebrated their version of Mardi Gras, went on a submarine and lots more.

The Cayman Islands is a bit more upscale in comparison to alot of the other Caribbean Islands. You won't get as many peddlers, and alot more beautiful shopping places. It's a bit safer too. The water is the beautiful Caribbean blue that you'd expect; absolutely gorgeous.
