Grand Beach Provincial Park
Grand Beach Provincial Park Scanterbury Reviews
Grand Beach Jun 25, 2011
Located just outside Grand Marais, Manitoba, the only thing we have done here is going and hanging out at Grand Beach on the eastern shores of Lake Winnipeg. The beach is fairly long, though not overly wide. Lake Winnipeg is the sixth largest lake in Canada, and the beach here is considered to be one of the best in Canada.
The sand does tend to have quite a few pebbles in it. The water is cold--it being Manitoba and all--but shallow. You can walk out quite far and still be able to touch the bottom of the lake. There is also a sand dune close to shore that depending on the lake's water level may actually be above water level.
There are bathrooms close to the beach that can be used as change rooms, and there is a board walk and food available, but "in season." Be advised that in 2011, the season apparently did not begin until June 26.
Grand Beach is in a provincial park, and in 2009, 2010, and 2011, admission to all Manitoba provincial parks is free, but that may not always be the case.
