Grand Baie Overview

Grand Baie is a coastal village in Mauritius located in Rivière du Rempart. In the 17th century the Dutch used to call Grand Baie the 'Bay Without End'. Today it appears as though it's the development – not the bay – that's without end. The seaside town of Grand Baie is the most popular holiday destination in Mauritius. The village offers a large choice of fashion and craft shops, hotels and restaurants. Grand Baie is also known for its nightlife as it hosts most of the island best bars and night-clubs, including Banana Café, Zanzibar, Les Enfants Terribles and the famous Buddha Bar.

Grand Baie owes its popularity mostly to the enchanting quality of its emerald waters of Indian Ocean and to its liveliness by day and by night. It offers many facilities. You can try all water sports here. Also, the Grand Bay region is a great place to discover the underwater marine life of Mauritius. Just try one of the Underwater Adventures such as the Underwater Sea Walk. The village is also the departure point for deep sea fishing trips and for boat excursions to the smaller islands that belong to Mauritius. Grand Baie is an ideal place to visit anytime of the year, with warm summers and mild winters.

Grand Baie, as the top holiday destination in Mauritius, offers variety of hotels, guesthouses, private apartments and villas. There are many places to stay in and around the village. In this tourist centre of Mauritius, right on the turquoise beach, 25 luxury suites have been built. Several new developments are also under construction or have been recently finished.
