Grand Azur Resort Reviews
Aug 03, 2007
The Grand Resort is a half board hotel, part of the Red Sea Hotels group. It is a huge complex with 5 pools (one of which is enormous and has a fountain, a river and a bar on an island in the middle), loads of restaurants, plenty of entertainment (including a nightly show and a kids club) and lots of bars (one of which is a nightclub). The building is in a traditional Egyptian/Arabian style and looks absolutely gorgeous both inside and out. The massive Mahala Restaurant is where the half board buffet is found, other restaurants and drinks are not included in the price, but the buffet is very good and has a great selection of food to suit all tastes. Food and drinks from the hotel can be a bit pricey, and the hotel has a policy about not bringing your own stuff in (although they don't seem to notice when you sneak in small things from shops nearby, where the bottled water is more than £1 cheaper). Rooms are huge and beautifully decorated, and have a hairdryer, safe and television. Bath towels, flannels, wash towels and toiletries are provided and the rooms are cleaned daily (the cleaning service is very good). Along the front of the hotel are some independant bars/restaurants where you can get cocktails for about £1.80 and big beers for about £1.20. Beach towels are provided by the hotel, and can be taken outside the resort (although you're charged if they go missing - £8 per towel). Across the road from the Grand Resort is the Grand Hotel - as it's part of the same group you're free to use the facilities there, such as its private beach and water slides. The Resort is on the Village Road, which is very well lit and has plenty of police and security nearby. It is near all shops and outside bars, and there are plenty of taxis available to take you elsewhere if you fancy a change.
