Total worth the Money May 28, 2012
Cannot fault this hotel for anything worth the money in every respect! The rooms were cleaned to high standard every day and even though I hung up nmy towels was still given fresh ones, bless! There were plenty of pools to choose from ans these were cleaned each night too.

Stayed in the Akumal side, and was close to all my friends (went for my friends wedding)

wasn't going to drink water unless it was bottled but there were plenty of signs stating it was purified and I was fine for the whole 2 weeks!

The seperate restaurants were good went to greek, brazilian and my favourite was Japense great show he put on, think I might have got a canadain hooked on sambuca I got talking to!

Loved the beach and being so close was a real bonus. and the staff were so helpful they couldnt do enough for you. Got the little bus up to Tulum as I was after riding a bike, vVery kind, saw the lads I was with playing tennis-that is mad in the heat. The market place was full of nice things and the nightclub was great for the two times I went-not a heavy drinker

will go again one day definitly

5 star but not to a perfectionist Jun 19, 2011
Good--The service was great and everyone did a great job keeping the place spotless. The place is huge and trams were fast and on-time.Customer service was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The sit down restaurants are great especially El Pescador and Don Pablo..stay away from the Japanese place(not good or authentic). The hibachi chefs are good though. The Brazilian place is good too. Always a bar close, snorkel and kayak rental everyday was cool.Plenty of places to relax at the beach and a very comfortable environment.I could have gone naked on the beach and felt at home.Laid back environment, beautiful women, and its safe to leave your stuff while swimming.

Bad--its Mexico so I know its freakin hot, but the fancy restaurants do not have a/c??That's not right. Close the windows and make the diners comfortable. The buffet food was ok at best and made everyone somewhat ill in our group of 25.It took a few days to adjust and after day 3 I did not eat the buffet for anything other than breakfast or fruit. The place is huge and that means a 10-15 min walk on rough beaches. Why not have transportation beach side to get people from one side to the other. Most people want to walk but it wouldn't hurt.

overall----This place is good.I was under the impression that my room had free wireless when booking with an upgrade but the upgrade just gave me an ocean view. That is good and all but no rooms are beachfront, so it wasn't worth all the extra money. My section had its own lobby but it closed at 11 so the privacy had a time limit. Went down for a wedding and beware singles the place is not for you.Saw plenty of beautiful women but they were all with bf's or husbands.I will be planning a wedding soon and will keep this place in mind.

Great Place, A little Big, But Lots of Fun Mar 04, 2011
This is a BIG resort. So big that they have to sell the rooms as if they were three resorts. One names Akumal, one named Coba and one named Tulum. Coba isnt even on the water. There are golf carts all over to take you from one area to another because most people dont wont to walk (or at least would complain if there were no carts).

The size is the downfall since three resorts share the beach size of 2 resorts. They expect you to stay within your little resort with all the amenities in each, but most people find it is better to wander with certain amenities better in certain areas. Also amenities such as the disco are only one for the 3 resorts.

The drinks and food were both very good and the beach was large, but mostly unswimmable. The water is rocky and there are large sand bags 50 feet out trying to rebuild the storm damaged beach. There is still room in one area (again which isnt good when 3 resorts all want to be in that one area) to swim, about 150 wide stretch.

The rooms were descent and what you expect from an older resort in Mexico, albiet a 5 star resort.

We spent $1000 per person in June 2009 and felt it worth every penny. In high season I am sure it costs more like $1500 a person, but I would be comfortable paying about $1200 per person for this resort.

4 star great value for your money Jul 24, 2010
The Bahia Principe Coba is an excellent resort and is part of the Bahia Complex. Its approximately 90 minutes from the Cancun airport and is close to the the ruins in Akumal, and Tulum and is 30 minutes away from Playa de Carmen

The Coba section is not on the beach but there are golf cart trains that run every 10 minutes that will take you to the beach or you can walk there in about 10 minutes along the pathways

Each room is a suite that has a jacuzzi style bath tub,the rooms are spacious and clean

There are several a la cartes at this hotel and the food is excellent, even the buffets are great

The great thing about this hotel is you have accesss to the entire complex (including the Tulum and Akamul sections)

Although this resort is not on the beach it is definitely the best part of this complex and I would reccommend it for couples families and single travellers who want to be close to the ruins in this area ;o)
