Rustic, in the woods Nov 03, 2007
This is a pretty nice hostel up in the woods in the mountains in Zakopane (1.5-2 hours from Krakow, Poland). Not particularly close to the center of town, you are really in nature when you stay here. Lots of wood, gives you the feel of being out in the wilderness ... although in reality, civilization is not far away at all. Clean. Friendly staff. In the mountains (150m from the Tatra National Park), perfect for hiking, or skiing, depending on what time of year you are there.
Definitely gets the thumbs up from Jeremy. :) Part of the 18 months in Krakow travel blog |

Awesome Getaway! Nov 27, 2009
WOW! well we had visited Zacopane after several city stops and other hostels. It was nice to get into the country and be away from the noisy european world! The hostel is located a few kms outside of Zacopane, but easily accessed with mini buses. Although a bit of a hike up the hostel itselft. But well worth it.
There was hardly anyone there when we arrived which was nice. It's quite a small hostel with alot of intimicy. Small kitchen, not alot of room to move around. The Lounge area is small, comfortable and nice place to hangout and meet new people. The hostel is within walking distance to the entrance of the National park there. And the owner provided us with a great detailed map to go on several hikes ranging from 45mins to day long trips. The weather was a bit cool, but was fantastic for hiking in! We had a great time, and would highly recommend 3+ days there. One downside. No locks on the rooms or lockers. Small breakfast |

The day before I had met Teo from Italy at the Goodbye Lenin Hostel and we decided to go hiking together the next day.
We woke up at 5.30am, took the first bus to the last stop called Polana Palenica . From there it is a 2-hour hike up to Lake Morskie Oko. Nothing… 10 hour hike |
