Pisco Sour - A Peru Drink May 24, 2009
A Pisco Sour is a cocktail containing pisco, lemon or lime juice, egg whites, simple syrup, and regional bitters like Amargo bitters, though Angostura bitters work if regional bitters are unavailable).
The Pisco Sour cocktail is a type of the Whiskey Sour it was created in the 1920's by some guy named Victor V. "Gringo" Morris at The Morris Bar in Lima. This drink soon became a local favourite. Eventually the local hotels were serving Pisco Sours to International clients as a way to say thank you. Which made a more world wide hit. I tried this drink a few times in Peru, from Lima and a few other places. It is a good drink, It has a slight sour taste with some sweetness to it. I was never a big booze drinker, more for beer, but it was worth a try. Overall it is worth checking out when in Peru, some people will love , that person could be you.
