A beautiful oasis can be found in the midst of Des Moines' East Village, which is a swanky, hip area filled with lofts, unique shops, and beautiful paths. In the midst of the East Village is a tea shop called Gong Fu Tea.

As one opens up the door, you experience the tranquil waters from the waterfalls as well as the peaceful mint green walls and the bamboo floors. Dark wood display cases filled with beautiful tea pots and tea accessories line the walls. They also showcase the shiny silver canisters which house the 200+ types of loose leaf teas. Small tables line the large windows, and a smaller more traditional setting is housed in the back of the tea room where bamboo mats are laid out and people sit on the floors. There are also couches strewn throughout the area for those who would like a little more cushion:)

Not only do they sell tea, but they also sell pastries and a few interesting snacks, like wasabi-covered green peas, tea eggs, and lychee fruit gummi snacks:)

My friend and I sat in the more traditional room, and the tea was absolutely incredible! We decided to make it a weekly tradition and try out each and every tea on the list, which may take us forever, but it will definitely be worth it in the end:)
