Australian Rainforest May 22, 2012
The Gondwana Reserve is a rainforest habitat in eastern Australia. It is a protected reserve and has the UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The entire reserve covers three varieties of rainforest including the largest subtropic rainforest in the world, warm rainforest and Antarctic rainforest. Speciation and evolution studies are ongoing within the specific reserves and over half of Australia's biodiversity, plants and animals, is contained here. The reserves are adjacent to extinct volcanic craters and make an interesting day trip. They highlight the direct links to fossils and species that have been unchanged since life forms began on the planet.
