Goleta is a new city, developed from the sprawl and growth of Santa Barbara. Being so close to the ocean the weather is very mild.
Goleta is home to college students attending UCSB (University of California Santa Barbara) as well as locals. Rent is less expensive here than in Santa Barbara and it is also located closer to the UCSB campus. The beaches near Ellwood are beautiful to take walks on and to sun bath, they also seem to be popular with surfers.

Left surreal Solvang behind and spent the day in Santa Barbara, with plans to spend a couple more days visiting Wineries and Missions. On this trip so far, I've really enjoyed staying at little Inns and B&B's in small outlying towns next to the big urban ghettos. From Felton to San Simeon to Solvang, I've enjoyed the woods and the peace and serenity of a rural setting.
