Island in the middle of nowhere Mar 19, 2013
We visit this island by an excursion from Ohrid by the Macedonian/Dutch travel agency of 'Lale tours'.

When we left Ohrid we first have to pas the mountains of Galichica National Park. At (almost) the top of the mountain we had a stop to see the great view over lake Ohrid and make some wonderful pictures of it.

When we go further we reached the small village of Stenje, this town is located at Prespa lake. After a small stop we go further over a very narrow unpaved road. It was very difficult for the driver to pass oncoming vehicle, because it was so narrow! (on the way back we even had a puncture on this narrow road).

At the end of the trip by buss we arrived at Konsjko village. There we switched to some small boats, the local people of Konsjko bring us to the Island of Golem Grad. At the island we first had a lunch at the Church of St. Peter, after that we had a walk over the island with the guide. On the island you can find a lot of ruins from the Roman period. For example; a roman house, swimming pool, church, etc. On the island you can also find a big cormorant and pelicans population. Also a lot of other birds can be found. The most beautiful about the trip was that you could see little turtles in the wildlife!

When we came back at the boat we had a moment to swim in the Prespa lake and after that we go back by boat and buss to Ohrid. It was a long day, but it was so beautiful!
