Golden Tulip Inn

When I was fortunate enough to visit the Musandam peninsula back in 2004, the Golden Tulip was the only lodging available – I have to believe somebody else moved in because this is such an inviting location. The facility offers every accommodation which folks from western cultures are familiar with, flushing toilets and hot showers at the top of the list (both rare in these parts). Rates are a bargain and you can engage the concierge to get signed up for a dhow tour of Musandam, known as the “Norway of the Middle East” for its rocky fjords.

They have a rare full service bar here, which was behind a door labeled “Private” (when we visited, anyway --- we just knocked and entered though). The service throughout was polite and conscientious – a definite recommendation if you need somewhere to repose when exploring this unique piece of the globe!
