Golden Tulip Halm Hotel Konstanz

We had seen the best of the Golden Tulip within minutes of arriving - behind the imposing facade, a welcoming and well kept reception area attended by friendly staff who quickly arranged our check-in and sat us down with a glass of sparkling wine.

Our room was a reasonable size, but without air conditioning it became hot on the warm spring nights when we were visiting. Double glazing would have kept the room quiet, but when opening the windows to cool the room, it became (tolerably) noisy even at the back of the hotel. The furnishings were nothing special but the room was well maintained.

The Golden Tulip Halm was well located and great for a short stay in Konstanz, but beyond the excellent staff, it was a fairly average hotel.

The Mercure Hotel Halm Konstanz is a nice 4-star hotel in a central position right next to the train station and the port (where ferries and ships of the Lake Constance stop at). A very friendly and polite hotel staff gives you all the information you need for your stay.
The railway track is right in front of the hotel but you hardly hear it. It's really quite! You may just hear the street in front but this isn't noisy.

The rooms are spacious, offer TV set(s), air conditioning (on request), a mini-bar, WLAN internet connection and a nice bathroom.
Furthermore the breakfast buffet is definetly GREAT. A hugh selection of fresh fruites (and juices), croissants, granola, cakes, bread, ham, eggs, sausages, yoghurt, fried things, .... Just have a look at the picture. This breakfast buffet was a dream!

I can recommend this hotel to everyone, and if I'll stay again in Konstanz, I would choose Mercure Hotel Halm Konstanz again.
