Great sandy beach north of Seattle with views of Olympic National Park Jul 29, 2011
This is a great place to visit and watch spectacular sunsets over puget sound. The park has nice wide sandy beach with trees for shade or tying a hammock. The atmosphere is quite lively, people gathering around fire pits, barbecuing and playing. The park is also close to Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard, where one can see boats moving up/down the locks between fresh-water lake and salt-water bay. There is also a fish ladder to watch salmon migration. Probably second most popular sandy beach after Alki beach in Seattle.
