Golden Banana Hotel

This place was recommended by a friend of mine who stayed there last December. They have both the Bed & Breakfast hotel and the boutique hotel and we have chosen the BB. Twin-sharing room is at USD28+ (10% VAT) with 2 breakfasts. Since all 4 girls wants to stay in the same room, we have requested a big room with 2 double beds and they only charged additional USD10+ for 2 more breakfasts. Our total bills for 2 nights only cost us USD 83.60 nett. It's a real bargain. Though we stayed in BB hotel, we are allowed to use the pool at the boutique hotel which is just next building which is cool. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The meals and drinks are at reasonable price which is also another good bargain. The hotel is very near to the old market, just 5-7mins walk and the hotels are very close to many local food outlets. We had dinner on the last night and it was really good.

This place was very popular and the reception was having problems daily about not having anybody's room booked, it seemed. They 'found' a place for us (after having made and confirmed the booking weeks in advance) when we arrived, and we did have to move to a different room (upgraded to the room we actually paid for). The hotel is set in a residential area, but only a few minutes walk to the center of town across the river. The staff is friendly and the rooms were decent. With lots of new places opening up, I'd probably try somewhere else before coming back here.
