going to Corregidor Island via an outrigger boat Nov 29, 2015
There are two ways to visit the island of Corregidor. First; through a package tour that originates at Roxas Boulevard, Pasay Metro Manila and second; via Bataan province through an outrigger boat from Villa Carmen Mariveles.

On Bataan peninsula highway toward the town of Mariveles, look for the #14 Kilometer Death March Marker. Turn left on that road and looked for Villa Carmen Beach Resort.

Rates: (As of November 2015)

PhP3,500.00 (US$85.00) – maximum of eight people. So, if there are eight people in your group, divide the amount into eight, and then that’s the cost per person. Having said that; it is best to have a company to share the expenses because this rate is quite steep for only a short twenty to thirty-minute ride each way. The boat driver will wait until your day tour is over.

Once docked at the south port of the island, a man who wore the 1940s military uniform will usher you to the visitor center where you pay the entrance fee, which is PhP200.00 (US$5.00) per person. You need a vehicle and a driver to take you around the island, thus, an additional fee of PhP800.00 (US20.000). The driver stops you at different sites on the island, and you may even request to bring you to places you want to see that is not in the itinerary. You have four hours to enjoy this service. If you wish to hire a tour guide, that is PhP1000.00 (US$25.00) extra, but as I mentioned, this service is only optional. We did not avail on this. Thankfully, our driver was already a good informant!

The twenty to thirty-minute outrigger boat ride is quite an adventure. The waves were pretty rough that day, so most of the time, there was the tossing high of the outrigger boat, and so, we got wet. I advise bringing an extra set of clothes (and sunscreen too.)

By the way, the water in this peninsula is not suitable for swimming due to factories in the surrounding areas or towns of Mariveles. Also, lots of commercial ships anchor here, so, the beaches here are not recommended for swimming.

Yes, but the father you go away from the port area, the better the water is. :))
