Goiko House San Sebastian Reviews
Overpriced and a bit loud, but fantastic location Sep 01, 2010
Since we booked last minute, hostels in San Sebastian were difficult to come by. Most were fairly expensive (over 30 euro per person), with poor reviews. Pension Goiko was similarly priced, but had decent reviews.
The hostel is situated in old town, within easy walking distance to all of the main beaches. Two streets to the north is a famous street with many famous restaurants, and one street to the south is the main (tourist) street for all of the bars and nightclubs.
The location is good, but our room had a window facing the streets, and it was loud all night. Didn't bother us too much, but if you're a sensitive sleeper, bring earplugs (or book elsewhere).
Staff was friendly and gave us some good recommendations for places to eat and bars to check out.
Free internet, but reception was really poor in the room we were in (had to go out into the halls to get any signal) -- this was the triple room.
Only other issue (and a relatively common theme of the hotels/hostels we stayed at?) is that there was a strong mildew smell from one corner of the room, and the wall under the sink looked like it had sustained some deliciously mildewy water damage.
