The village of Goathland is on the North York Moors in North Yorkshire England. It is famous for being the setting of Aidenfield in "Heartbeat" a TV series on British TV. Many people visit because of this , but it is busy because it is on the North York Moors Railway, that runs steam trains between Whitby and Pickering. 250,000 passengers a year. The population of the village, in 2011 was 438. and is 500 ft above sea level. The rail station was Hogsmead in the film of Harry Potter.----Heartbeat ran on ITV from 1992 to 2010 for 372 episodes. Today it is repeated many times on Cable and Sky TV.
