Go in the summer! Cape Cod Reviews
Oct 05, 2007
as much as we locals complain about all the tourists that flock over the bridge every summer, i love calling cape cod my home. it's absolutely beautiful. with over 27,000 acres of pristine untouched beach (designated forever as part of the national seashore,) much of the cape will always retain the beauty it's had since the pilgrims landed here in 1620. yes. the cape is chalked full of history-- from the mayflower passengers to our native indian tribes to the infamous purtains and their witch trials.
but the summer is the time to come. it gets pretty cold here in the winter, and with the closest ski resort a few hrs away, there's not much to do here in the off season. but if you do come between may and october, there is plenty to do!
camping all over the cape, hiking nature trails at the national seashore, cape-wide bike trails, whale watching in provincetown, shopping the quaint stores in chatham or scoping the nightlife in hyannis...there is something for everyone. and if you're a seafood lover, this is the place for you, as most of the seafood served in restaurants on the cape is locally caught. make sure you try the clam 'chowdah' when you come!
