Gloucester Road London Reviews
Underground art gallery Jun 17, 2017
Gloucester Road Station is served by the District, the Piccadilly, and the Circle lines of the Underground.
The station first opened in 1869, very soon after Londondon's first underground railway came into use. The surface architecture reflects the station's history. The brick building with circular-arched windows was the entrance to the upper-level station (the District and Circle lines). The building next to it, which is covered with blood-red tiles, is related to the deep-level station (the Piccadilly Line). The upper-level has a disused platform, whose wall is used to display exhibitions of art, which are changed periodically. ![]()
