Cathedral towns in the UK are a dream, and Gloucester Cathedral is no exception! This cathedral, whilst probably not the most picturesque has some rather fascinating elements.

There's a memorial to the bloke that wrote the US national anthem (he was born here). There's also several stained glass paintings, some amongst the oldest and longest

My favourite was that of what looks like someone playing golf. Golf was supposedly introduced either in Scotland or Belgium in the 15th century, yet this stained glass window dates back from the 13th century. Was he curling? We'll never know....

Whilst entrance to the Cathedral is free, you have to pay a small fee for taking photos (totally worth it). the cloisters are brilliant.

There's also a very nice cafe by the garden. I had a Victorian sandwich cake there.
