A lovely woodland walk Jun 23, 2012
Glengarra forest recreation area is located a few km off junction 12 of the M8. Its a natural forest area, managed by the Irish forestry board, Coilte. There is a large car park and picnic area just off the main road.

The woods have many trails running through them , marked with different colours, and there is also a gravel road that runs up to the An Oige Hostel about 2km from the main car park. A small river runs through the woods, with three main bridges crossing over (only the one nearest the hostel is for cars, the other two are pedestrian).

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, you'll meet families, dog lovers and hikers all enjoying the woods. You don't have to be super fit, you can stroll or powerwalk!
