Glenegedale Guest House Islay Reviews
The breakfast will draw me back! Jun 03, 2011
Glenegedale House and, more importantly, the owner Rachel offer a great Islay experience. Rachel’s knowledge of the island and willingness to help with planning will have you off to a great start before you even arrive. The house is located just across the street from the airport so a simple transfer if you manage to get in on one of the few flights per day. Otherwise you’re a short drive from the ferry and less than 10 minutes to Bowmore.
The decor is charming with an excellent mix of artwork, period furniture and various collector’s items to keep you entertained. The sitting area is cosy and inviting (and huge) so you can just relax with one of the many board games or use the wifi or terminal to browse the web.
The rooms are fitted out with all the necessities including fresh fruit and tea making facilities. The bed was incredibly comfy and topped with a nice plush duvet to keep you warm. The breakfast probably deserves its own independent review as it was the best I’ve ever experienced at a B&B and more food than you could ever imagine. A choice of fruit/cheese, cooked or kippers will keep it varied for you and then the standard massive bowl of home cooked porridge and toast/cereals will ensure you stay full right through dinner. If you don’t see something you want, ask Rachel and she’ll probably be able to sort it for you.
Don’t forget to try the scones too. They are cooked to perfection and the perfect end to a great breakfast. The house is great for couples, families or groups with plenty of space for everyone.
