See a Part of Glen Canyon Aug 17, 2017
The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is a large park under the National Park Service. It encompasses 1.25 million acres of land a water in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. In August 2017, I drove through the part intersected by Utah Highway 95. This area was explored by John Wesley Powell in 1869 as he carted the course of the Colorado River. The terrain changed significantly when the Glen Canyon Dam was built in 1963 forming Lake Powell. Today the park hosts some spectacular scenery and lots of various recreational opportunities like fishing, boating, hiking, camping (both with amenities and more primitive camping), and more.
