The Gallery is located in converted stables next to a wonderful Regency Period House, built in 1828, set in mature woodland gardens. Anyone interested in interior design will marvel at this place. It is decorated with William Morris textiles, Islamic and Japanese art etc.
The house was the home of Derek Hill, a painter and collector, and the catalyst behind the development of the Tory Island school of primitive painting. The collection includes 300 works by leading 20th century artists; Picasso, Kokoshka as well as Irish and Italian artists. Exhibitions are shown in the adjoining gallery. There is access to ground floor (only) of the Gallery for people with restricted mobility or in a wheelchair. Glebe house is 18km from Letterkenny on R251. There are no direct bus routes. Open June to October each year. Contacts: Glebe House and Gallery, Church Hill, Letterkenny, Donegal. Tel: +353749137071
