Glassboat Catamaran Hurghada Reviews
Underwater coral + fish watching Feb 29, 2008
Our tour with the glassboat catamaran started at the Hurghada Intercontinental. Transfer to and from the hotel was included in the fee (25 Euro per adult, children free). The catamaran offers two roofed upper decks. A snack bar offers some sweets and drinks.
After cruising time you step down into one of the two hulks. The main difference compared to the semi-submarine is that you do not sit in front of a panoramic window. Since the draft of the catamaran is not very deep the windows are located close to the bottom. You have to look downwards constantly or snatch one of the places at the very front of the hulk. There you can sit or lie on a mat. Regardless of whether you sit on a chair or lie on the mat it is slightly more
Inconvenient than in the semi-submarine. And the windows are smaller. Don’t get me wrong: it was great. But for one more reason I would rather recommend the submarine trip: Underwater time was about 40 minutes. Afterwards I found out that we had been lucky. When the trip is sold out you only get 20 minutes (!) underwater time. In our case there had been only 20 tourists aboard. So there was no need for a “rotation”.
Pro: roofed deck (great in summertime), snack bar
Contra: smaller windows, inconvenient esp. for older people
