Glasi Hergiswil Reviews
Blow your own glass Mar 29, 2011
Until 1975 the Glasi Hergiswil was a normal glass factory. The Glasi should be closed, cause it could not keep up with the production costs of other countries/glass factories. The people working there aswell as the community fought against it: Today, they sill produce glass, but not mass production.
There are different parts to see. First, there is a museum in which the history of the Glasi but aswell of the glass in general is told.
In a second part you are able to see how work the glassblowers on the huge ovens. You are also able to blow your own glass. Normally this needs a bit of patience cause obviously everybody wants to blow :-)
Newly, the opened also a glass labyrinth. This costs an entrance fee of CHF 5.- But it's alot of fun, walking inside.
If you are in central Switzerland, I would highly recommmend to visit the Glasi. You could easily combine the excursion with a boat trip on Lake Lucerne, cause the Glasi is situated directly at the lake.
There is a restaurant aswell to enjoy some hours at the lake after the tour.
