Cairo, Egypt -› Giza, Egypt -› …
There aren't words adequate enough to describe the Giza pyramids. Spectacular, breath-taking, majestic, architectural feat, spiritual, powerful - all fall short. The Giza plateau is a place that everyone should visit in their lifetime. To stand before these massive structures, one…

This is definitely a site to see before you die. After waiting in the usual traffic jam to get there, I was tended to by this 6 foot 6 inch Bedouin who overcharged us for either a camel or horse to ride through the desert to get to the pyramids, other tombs, and the Sphinx. I took the horse since I…

New York, New York, USA -› Cairo, Egypt -› …
Wakeup was at 7:00, breakfast was at Omer’s once again and the pickup was at 8:00 for the pyramids. Traffic was nuts once again but we didn’t have yesterday’s tie-up. Making the same mistake I made years ago when estimating out time at the Grand Canyon, I figured time at the pyramids would…

I am sitting by
the fire in the Sahara desert. This morning we

You can even see the Sphinx and the three great pyramids from the local Pizza

Usually my travel blogs consist of how pissed I was every night, but this year I'm not going with my friends, but just with my parents, brother, aunt and uncle, and two of my cousins. I'm hoping to make up for the lack of my annual drunken stupor by going to the pyramids, lazing around sunbathing and shopping. Let's see if I miss my friends as much as I think I might, or whether a year off from vodka-induced blood poisoning will turn out quite nice after all.

Pretty much all of the next day was spent in the bus to Cairo, that included the tunnel under the Suez Canal. In Cairo we had no problem…
