The Girl with a Pearl Earring (Dutch: Het meisje met de parel) is one of Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer's masterworks and as the name implies, uses a pearl earring for a focal point. The painting is currently housed at The Mauritshuis in The Hague. It is sometimes referred to as "the Mona Lisa of the North" or "the Dutch Mona Lisa".
It's a very beautiful painting. The colours are very beautiful. There is a book and a movie about the painting. The stories are not real – it’s just what peoples think. It’s strange that the girl in the painting is a maid and she has a pearl earring! That makes people want to write about it.

We all wanted to see Vermeers "Girl with Pearl Earring". Vermeer is one of my favorite Dutch painters.

I saw Girl with a Pearl Earring - she looks like nothing so much as a late rennaissance High Street Honey, frankly, and nowhere near as interesting as any of the Rembrandts in the room before or the rather stern portrait of the rather Puritan looking Lady in the next… Mauritshuis |
