Giovanni's Manchester Reviews
Giovanni's Jun 14, 2010
Giovanni’s is a café in Manchester, on New York Street. It is my favourite place to buy lunch, especially on weekdays. TO be honest, I’m not sure if it opens weekends or not because it is in the business part of town.
Giovanni’s is mostly a take away, although there are a small number of tables you can sit at too. It is staffed by some of the most smiley, nicest people in the city. The menu is mostly sandwiches, baked potato or salad, although there are also soups, Panini, chicken curry on rice, and things like that. As a rule, everything is a pound or two cheaper than it would be in nearby Piccadilly gardens, and made freshly. Chicken curry on rice, for example, is only £2.95 to take away or about £3.50 to eat in, and it is a huge portion.
The café is light and pleasant, and although the queue can look chaotic in the lunch time rush, it moves fast. The food is tasty, and the staff are lovely.
Skip the food hall at the Arndale, another pub lunch, or the expensive sandwich chains and come here instead!
