Not deluxe, but a clean and convenient hotel in Ginza area Aug 06, 2011
We stayed at Ginza Nikko Hotel the night before we left Japan. There are many luxurious hotels in Ginza area, but they tend to be very expensive. We picked this place since the price was not over-the-top, yet it looked nice and clean.

We took the JR Yamanote line to Shinbashi Station, and the hotel was about 4 minutes walk from the "Ginza" exit of the station. It was a little hard to find as there are lots of streets crisscrossing near the station, but the map I downloaded from the hotel's website helped.

This is a small hotel in Ginza 8-Chome. Ginza 4-Chome area is considered to be the very center of Ginza area where all kinds of shops and restaurants. We walked from the hotel to the Ginza 4-Chome intersection; it must have taken us probably 10 to 15 minutes. There are lots of stores along the way as well, so it was a fun walk looking around the town and window-shopping.

The small lobby had a modern decor, and the gentlemen at the reception were not the friendliest, but their service was very efficient.

Our room had a two queen beds. Very clean and spacious enough. The wall seemed to be rather thin; we could hear some muffled noise of people talking in other rooms. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom is what they call a "unit bath" in Japan; one tiny room with a small tub with shower and a toilet. No frills. It is common to see this kind of bathroom in "business hotels" in Japan. Free Internet access (with a LAN cable)was available.

Our fee included full breakfast. It was served at a restaurant by the lobby. It was a buffet, and it included both Japanese and western style breakfast. Very satisfying.

We booked our rooms on the Internet through the hotel's website. It was about 18,000 yen, including breakfast. Not particularly cheap, but it is relatively inexpensive considering the location. We were happy with our stay. We might consider going back if we have a chance.
