Gingerman Pub Dallas Reviews
A place for serious beer connoisseurs. Nov 20, 2008
The Gingerman Pub is relaxing place to take your time sipping beers from around the world. Located in a two-story house north of downtown Dallas, the Gingerman Pub offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
True to its name, the Gingerman Pub offers a amazing variety of beers from six continents. You could take a look at the 70-plus beer tabs along the wall behind the bar or grab one of the three-page beer menus lying around. Mixed-drinkers beware! You will not find any mixed drinks here. Just beer, wine, cider and some champagne during special occasions.
The beers are indexed according to bottled or draft, country, and whether they are dark, amber or pale. The hosts will gladly give you a small sample to try before ordering a whole glass. Enjoy the atmosphere as you walk around checking out the Gingerman Pub. There is a main floor with a bar that runs over 80% along the wall on the right. The main floor has some seating but not much as well as a juke box and two steel-tip dart boards. Upstairs is a library with three comfortable couches and some chairs. Outside is a patio with many picnic-style tables with bench seating. Perfect for enjoying a brew with many friends.
The Gingerman Pub is a family and dog friendly place during the day. It is not at all unusual to see babies in strollers and dogs on leash during the daytime there. Indeed all ages are invited to come into the Gingerman during the day as sodas, tea and coffee are available for those under 21 and those that do not drink alcohol. However, the crowd is decidedly only 21 and over after dark and no pets. Cigar smokers rejoice! The Gingerman doesn't just allow cigars to be smoked here, they are encouraged. There are regular cigar nights scheduled. Check the website for dates and times for these events. In the United States, drinkers must be 21 or over. The hosts will not serve anyone under 21 regardless of where the customer is from originally.
If you are staying in the hostel in downtown Dallas, the Gingerman is but a short cab ride away. Please do not attempt to walk there by yourself though, the distance is far enough to break a sweat and could be dangerous unless you are with a group of at least 6-8 people or more.
Enjoy your beer!
