Giardini Naxos is a small town located on the eastside of Sicily. It was founded in 734 BC, being the first Greek colony on the Island. Nowadays, it´s a popular seaside reasort.
There are less than 10,000 permanent residents in Giardini-Naxos, but during the high season, June to August, the town is swarming with tourists.
The beaches around Giardini-Naxos are beautiful, pebbled and absolutely crowded during the high season. Via Tysandros, the main street along the sea front, provides with hotels, restaurants and pubs alike.
The nearest airport is Catania, which is about 60 km south. Messina is 40 km away and it is the nearest port to Giardini-Naxos.
