The Causeway is located on N. Ireland's northern coast, in Antrim. It's about 1.5 hour drive from Belfast and a 4 hour drive from Dublin. The causeway is located on the Antrim Scenic Coastal Road which extends from Belfast and further west of the causeway itself. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is a definite must-see for visitors to the North.

The attraction costs £8.50 for adults. There is also free parking. Unfortunately it is not exactly wheelchair friendly. There is a little bus that can run people from the tourist centre and back (5 minute walk) for £1 each way. There is also an audio guide to lead you along and provide you with all the necessary information, factual and mythological.

The causeway is a brilliantly maintained natural wonder from an age ago when Ireland and Scotland were, supposedly, joined by a land bridge caused by a volcanic eruption (although, as far as i was concerned we are not located on any tectonic plates but perhaps were were millions of years ago, and perhaps i should have listened to our audio guide, Jimmy!).

The Causeway plateau of almost perfectly-shaped hexagonal slabs of varying sizes and heights stretches a lot further than i had imagined. It is actually huge.

The place itself is very special and reminds you why people from all over the world visit Ireland for its mystical qualities. And for those of you who watch Game of Thrones it is also easy to see why the producers of the show envisioned Northern Ireland as the home of 'The North' of Westeros.

The sea rhythmically slaps against the rocks causing a lot of dampness and seaweed so be careful! Also, for those of you with questionable equilibrium and balance, be prepared to struggle with clambering over the rocks.
