Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington Sep 19, 2011
Wilmington, North Carolina, claims to be the most haunted city in the South, or maybe even the most haunted in the USA. However, there are other cities that they must contend with for that title, such as Charleston, South Carolina, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
But as such, you can go on a ghost walk in Wilmington, where they give two ghost walk tours of old Wilmington a night, every night. One is at 6:30 and the other at 8:30. These tours are led by professional actors, and our guide went into his qualifications prior to the tour, mentioning his over 30 speaking roles on TV and movies.
We went for the early tour, but doing it in September, it did get dark before the end of the tour. Each tour does five stories in the 90-minute tour of the downtown area, out of over 30 different stories that they can tell. The first story stop we had probably would have been scarier had it been dark, and then the second stop was a non-scary tale that the actor chose to tell.
I was also told that the actors will put themselves in character and the stories can be pretty scary. Our leader, however, didn't do that, instead just telling us the facts of each of the five stops.
I do believe each of the tours likely stops at a cemetary for one of the stops.
