Geysir Iceland Feb 11, 2013
Geysir - The second destination in the Golden Circle and one of Iceland's main attraction for tourists, as it is one of the few places in the world where natural geysers erupt frequently and reliably . It is about an hour drive from Reykjavík. It is an amazing experience watching the Geysir erupt in front of you.

This is a area that provides many geysir but the main ones are Strokkur and Geysir, they erupt up to 30 meters high. The facilities in the area is really good , it includes Geysir a large design clothing store (IDH customers get discount), a documentary movie theater about the area, a restaurant and a souvenir shop.

Quite a sight! Dec 27, 2009
Like most people I saw the Geyser via the Golden Circle tour. It was an amazing spectacle, however it was spoilt a bit by the touristy nature of the place. We arrived amidst many other buses and the Geyser was completely encircled by people trying to get a picture. It may be a nice idea to hire a car or hitchhike out to the Geyser in the non peak times to see it in its solitary beauty!

That being said it was a stunning sight. The water slowly bubbly away endlessly as if to tease the spectator. Suddenly it erupts in an immense out pour and is a marvel of nature. It is beautiful to observe the eruption in its state of crystallization. For someone like me who hadn't even seen a waterfall before, this area was something I would never forget!

Not as big as Old Faithful, but it does erupt every 10 mins or so. It will trick you in to thinking it will go several times b4 it actually does. I took so many short videos and pics and it settled back down. lol.But when it does the water crowns and what I descibe as "glacier blue" water crowns on the surface for a couple seconds. Just enough time for you to take one awesome pic! then it erupts about 60 ft or so. There are many geysirs there but that is the only one that goes off regularly. The gift shop is quite pricey, and if you can hold off going to the restroom for awhile I highly suggest it.
