Gettysburg Overview

Gettysburg, PA was the site of the culmination and decisive point of the American Civil War. This historic town is the location where the Civil War changed momentum from the Confederacy to the Union Army.

There are numerous important battlefields and monuments in this area from Pickett's Charge to Little Round Top. President Eisenhower, a West Point graduate and Commander of Allied Forces during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France during 1944 in WWII, also has a historic estate home in Gettysburg.

The town of Gettysburg is known for folk lore and small hotelsread more hosting people from all over the world who study the battlefields of Gettysburg. There are a few restaurants and pubs, but also a few ghost stories to tell about this famous town north of Washington, DC. The cemetery is also the location of President Lincolon's famous Gettysburg Address.
