Getting stuck on the motorway in Croatia Sep 06, 2008
We had no hurry getting back home besides just wanting to move in the right direction. The motorway in Croatia is amongst the most fantastic road that I ever have driven on. The road is spun like a serpentine through mountains and wild forest areas in a way that I haven’t seen before. The architect behind this must be a master in his field.
The road is also very soft to drive on; meaning that you can keep a high average speed all the time you don’t need to adjust while you are driving until you are reaching one of the ends of the project like we did not far from Rijeka in the northern part of Croatia on our way to Slovenia.
Here we had a full stop! Everything stopped at an entrance before a tunnel and we never found out why. There was no car moving in any direction. We had like everybody else just to give up and walk out of the car and enjoy the break as good as possible. Well the weather was fine we couldn’t complain about that and how often do you get a chance of walking on a motorway bridge!
After 35-45 min the queue broke up and we could start driving again, and we still wonder why everything blocked.
