Getting around in Bangalore
Getting around in Bangalore Bengaluru Reviews
Best public transportation to go around Bangalore Dec 26, 2011
Once you arrive at Bangalore, you have many options to get around the city. The most cheapest means of transportation is the Metropolitan Bus service. The city is well connected with buses and you can either choose to go in a normal service bus (works out very cheap) or you opt to hop on an Air-Conditioned Volvo bus (affordable).
One can avail a daily bus pass to travel in the city in case many buses are involved. Please note that the pass availed in a Volvo bus can be used in the normal bus too. But not the vice versa. The pass is valid until 12AM the same day.
Alternatively you have the auto-rickshaws in the city. The auto rickshaws drivers may try to trick you by asking for improper fares of even refuse to come for a hire. The ones who agree to come may demand a fixed fare. Do not agree to it. Ask the driver to turn the fare meter on and only then travel. Once you get in the auto, the driver license information is put up just behind the driver seat facing you. Note down the driver's name and vehicle number. This is for security reasons. Before alighting the stop, please ensure that you have taken all your belongings. Tracing an auto in the city is a tough task. 90% of the times, you won't get back your belonging if forgotten in the auto.
Another option is to take a taxi service. MERU is one of the prominent taxi service and Easy-Cabs is another. If you call the providers, they will send you the vehicle to the point where you are and the billing is from departure point to arrival point only. Nothing extra to be paid.
Well, that's that for now. In case you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
