I did San Fran for 8 days with a group of friends (who make a living by living cheap thought its not even necessary for them to do so, merely a personal choice). i made the whole trip in less than $700 ($200 was for the house for the week which isnt bad and $380 was for the round trip tickets.. the rest was food and gifts for friends and family). first thing, bring several people and rent a house. theres a few sites online where you can find houses to rent. rent the house outside of the city though. we stayed in South SF just near San Bruno. But it was not inconvenient at all. The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit.. their metro system) runs everywhere you need it to. Well we also "rented" bikes from Wal-Mart because first we hate all things to do with walmart because they are destroying america and its does more harm than good (it as a mega corp is richer than most countries in the world).. but we bought bikes and then returned them (in nearly mint condition.. you couldnt tell they had been ridden). we would ride the bikes from the point that the Bart dropped us off to pretty much everywhere. Such as, we got off at Embarcadero (which is right in the middle of everything that is the city of san fran (its right at the piers, Girradelli factory, just by the Bay Bridge and not too far from the Golden Gate. well we rode the bikes around all of city, from one side to the other, we literally rode (willingly i must add, if you arnt into biking taking a cab or even walking ..or renting scooters..wouldnt be a hassle at all).. all of san fran, we rode from the piers..to the bridge.. the length of the bridge.. from the bridge through all of Golden Gate Park.. which i must say is ENORMOUS (for those of you that actually care).. to China Town (DO NOT EAT CHINESE FROM ANYWHERE THAT LOOKS REMOTELY SKETCHY..VOMITING WILL OCCUR).. we even took the BART to Oakland where we rode that city (but turns out that place is sketch as crap and you will hear gunshots and run into thugs so i dont suggest it one bit).. we rode through the heart of san fran where everything shopping is.. we went through little italy. we literally saw everything that you could want to just by taking the metro and riding bikes. we woke up at 6:30 one morning and went to Alcatraz too.. but its nothing too special. Also, we managed to get breakfast for free too. but if you wnat to do that you have to be BALLZY, this is more for the teenage independent group i guess, but if you hate big corporations and overpricing.. feel free to just dress in your sleep clothes and take a trip to your nearest Hilton, Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Mariott.. etc.. they have continental breakfast and if you look confident, if you arnt sketchy, and you look like you know what youre doing youll be fine.. we even managed to get more towels from them, play basketball with kids actually staying there, and use their hot tub at night. if you have any more questions feel free to email me at rcsides@ncsu.edu or ryansides@yahoo.com ill be glad to answer questions. take care and get big.

…Francisco you have to park your car with the wheels facing outward so that if there's an earthquake you car doesn't slide and you get ticketed if you don't park this way. Also, houses have to be repainted every 6 months to a year and there has to be a 1 inch space b/w all houses.  In the afternoon we drove across the golden gate bridge to Muir Woods, part of the golden gate recreation area. I left my keys in front… Alcatraz and Golden Gate Recreation Area, San Francisco
