Gershwin Hotel New York

Honestly I want to rate this place excellent. I slept dormitory style that had 10 bunk beds and stayed with girls from around the world I did not know but got to know and made friends with. It is affordable at $45 through Gershwin Hotel website or go to expedia and you can get it for $35. There is only 1 bathroom in the room to 10 girls but the bunch I was with we had no problems. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs because people come in and go out of the room at all hours. If you are looking for an interesting experience and only need a bed and bathroomand are on a tight budget this is a place to go. I think even if I was a millionare I'd still stay here because I just had so much fun!

My mom and I went in October 2008 - first trip to NYC and we loved this hotel. It was so bright and cheerful, with two subway lines located close by (the 6 and the R/W) with tons of small restaurants/shops/vendors for cheap eats. The rooms are CLEAN, staff is great, and price is too for Midtown Manhattan. My only complaint - and it would be small - would be all the smokers out front but it caters to the Euro crowd so expect it.
I love this place...book far in advance though!

I found this hotel through www.quikbook.com for under $150. I was a little worried at first, but I was staying only 1 night and I had a certain budget I wanted to keep to. I was very pleased with the location and staff! For the rate I really could not complain. This was not a 4 star hotel, but I wasn't paying a 4 star price either.

Without providing too many details I felt this hotel was an easy walk to subways. Room was clean and housekeeping was very good and prompt. This was not a tourist class hotel like I thought it could be. I would stay there again and I would check back for more deals at Quikbook.com for this hotel. I was thrilled with this trip

The Gershwin Hotel is amazing! It's right in the Middle of Manhattan.

I wasn't too sure if this hotel was going to be nice. Everyone told me that if I was spending $119 a night in the middle of Manhattan that I should be prepared for anything. This place is amazing and I will stay here whenever I visit the city.

This is probably the coolest hotel I've ever been to and it's very cheap compared to other hotels in NYC. The rooms are full of art and nice furniture. Even the hallways are full of art. Everything is very clean and the staff is friendly. The photos on their website are real, this hotel is as nice as it looks.

Suites - $249-$329
Superior - $129-$249
Standard - $119-$199
Essential - $109-$199
They even have rooms with several bunk beds for $45 per person.

I stayed in the Standard and it had a TV, 2 night stands, a bureau with large mirror, 2 stylish chairs, and a table. As well as a bathroom, with a stand up shower.

Don't spend more than you need to, this hotel is perfect.

I stayed at this hotel when I was in New York City in January 06, with my father. This is a good place for people who don't ask for much in the way of a room. Our room was very basic, comprised of two twin beds a TV and a small bathroom w/ shower. The decor is pretty modern with many Andy Warhol photos. If you want to be in the middle of Manhattan and you're traveling on a budget this is a great place to stay. All we wanted was a place to sleep, because with all of Manhattan right out the door we didn't want to stay cooped up in our hotel room the whole time. They offer everything from Family suites to bunk beds for the ones on a tight budget. The hotel also has a restaurant but they are still waiting for the permits. You shouldn't need their restaurant anyway because there are so many paces to eat near by. We just ordered take-out from a Chinese restaurant down the street that was pretty good. The location was pretty good. It's right off Broadway and just a couple of blocks from a subway station. There are lots of things to do right around the hotel. It is also right around the corner from the Museum of Sex if anyone is interested in that lol. All in all it was the right hotel for my father and I. Just don't go expecting to have all the finest because you aren't going to find it at this Hotel. But if you are just looking for a place to sleep in a good environment then this hotel should be a good fit.
