Georgian Hotel Santa Monica

So far i've stayed in 2 hotel on the ocean drive...
BestWestern Ocean View (which was really horrible!)
and the Georgian.

We payed the same price for 1 week...
so i would def. recommend the Gerogian Hotel, because the BW Ocean View is a dump. Avoid this one!

PROS:
+ location
+ cleanliness
+ helpful staff
+ valet parking
+ price

NEG:
- no swimming pool (why a pool if you can get the ocean?)
- expensive room mini-bar

as i've already mentioned in my journal entry, there was a guy at the front desk (it's possible that he was the manager too), was VERY cool.
his name was Gene, and he helped us so much with everything...
he knew what we were looking for ;) for having a good time, so he told us where to go in hollywood, venice, hermosa beach....

he told us where we would fine the cheapester liquor store, gave us some adresses of good restaurants...

and he was always in a good mood.. and always behaved totally honest.

to the hotel now:
the rooms were ok... clean, not to small, the minibar service was good, they had all kind of drinks, alcohol, snacks in it....just those prices were a little high...

the room service was great... the did the service at any time... morning, noon, evening... every day you got the newspapers for free delivered to your room... a card with the weatherforcast on it, and a square of chocolate:)

the only inconvenience were the elevators...those were sooooooooooo slow. i mostly used the stairs to get to the 5th floor...
besides that no complaints about the georgian hotel...

ok...a pool would be a good idea, however if you got the ocean in a walking distance, you don't care about the pools.

the valet service was good...the guys were very friendly, and they drove carefully, not like the valet guys from other hotels...

The fantastic location and comfort are well worth the price at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica. I stayed in a suite and couldn't have been more pleased with my stay. The staff was very helpful and were quick to fulfill any request.

The Third Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier were a quick and easy walk away (5 minutes or less). Main Street was a 15-20 minute walk. I didn't take advantage of the public transportation, preferring to walk most of the time, but noticed more than one bus stop within a few blocks of the hotel. (For getting to and from the airport - SuperShuttle was $13 plus tip for a shared van; taxi was $42 plus tip.) There's an information booth across from the hotel if you forget to bring your trip notes like I did.

The only negatives I experienced were minor ones. Being on the 8th floor, I used the elevator quite often. There are two elevators, but they aren't very fast and are small compared to what you usually find in a more modern hotel or office building. The elevator to the left does run a little faster than the one on the right. The elevators are independent of one another, so you can't press one button and take whichever one comes first. You'd have to call both elevators. Also, perhaps because I was on a higher floor, the cleaning staff called earlier than expected - so be sure to use the "privacy please" sign if you want to enjoy a leisurely morning in your room.
