A Bargain for Bird Lovers Oct 20, 2012
Wonderful trails and lots of birds....what a great way to spend a day! At only $5 (for adults), it's cheap, too. The trails are all pretty level with plenty of benches along the way to take a rest. The majority of the birds are water fowl, but there are lots of songbirds in the areas that are more wooded (sit on a bench, close your eyes, and listen to their wonderful sounds - so peaceful and beautiful!).

October is a great time to visit since many of the snow geese are migrating south. You might even luck out and see some sand hill cranes.

Great place for bird lovers! Mar 07, 2009
If you love birds and like to see many different kinds in one area in the wild, you're in for a treat at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

I went with a group of photographers and was amazed at how many birds were there. What was interesting was hearing rifles being fired in the background (it was hunting season)...and looking overhead to see the birds desperately trying to reach the sanctuary and safety.

Snow geese, ducks of all sorts, hawks, many birds!

Kids will delight in being able to buy food to feed the ducks that practically swarm around them. For others, just walking along the miles of trails is relaxing and beautiful. There are many blinds set up along the trails so you can observe birds and water fowl in their natural environments.
