Genova is a very nice city, it's funny to walk in the center, looking at the monuments, the shops, to smell the fragrance of the italian "focaccia" and at the same time to look at the beautiful colors of the sea and the "porto antico".The aquarium is really interesting, big and funny: I recommend y…

Today was a holiday in Italy called Epifania, celebrating
when the three kings brought gifts for baby Jesus. This is the day when
Italian children are given sweets in stockings - if they have been good
- or a witch comes on her broomstick and places coal in the stocking if
the child has been ba…

What to do, when you visiting a big (at least in our eyes) city. Go to the foreigner agency. This nice lady showed a route to walk. So we went with enthousiasm to the train. After arrival, we walked that route and enjoyed it. Nice buildings, interesting statues, busy streets. However, at some point…

Cologne, Germany -› Mainz, Germany -› …
On the 17th of July, we visited the city of Genoa. It was only about 25 minutes by car, so that was very relax. We left quite early in the morning so we had the whole day to spend in the city. You immediately see that Genoa is an authentic Italian city. Especially when you drive down the Autostrada…

Genoa has a taste of spanish Valencia due its modern dock area. Someone told me there is nothing to see in Genoa beside the docks, but he was wrong.
The only flaw I have found its Genoa´s hills. You will have to train your legs before going if your hotel it´s up there. And for those who love bac…

Chiavari, Italy -› Sestri Levante, Italy -› …
I spent 2 weeks in Chiavari to study Italian. It is a lovely and very clean little town in Liguria. In the old part of town are many arcades where you can walk around and enjoy the small shops. Plenty of traditional Ligurian restaurants all around the town. I enjoyed my stay very much, did some trips to Sestri Levante & Genoa. Beautiful area! Portofino is around the corner! Big thank you to Anna & her family to make me feel like home! And my Italian - hmmm, well, we will not talk about it! ;-))

Spent a week (short!) in different parts of Italy, driving around, photographing and tasting some great wines. A beautiful country with friendly people and lots to see; Italy's not only Firenze, Rome and Milano - it's much more!
