Nice visit! Apr 18, 2011
Located in the heart of Genoa, the cathedral is a very impressive building and well worth putting on your list if you are in Genoa. The facade is striking. They have these wonderful shades of stone and towards the back, the steps are dotted with a pair of lions on each side. It reminds me a little of the lions which are near the Uffizi in Florence! Inside, the black and white striped effect of the stone is striking. The chapels are nice enough. The altar is lovely to look at, as is the detail on the stained glass windows. The noise levels are a little high here. Although I did visit when the organists were practising, and there were several tour and school groups inside too. Although it gets quite busy, it’s worth a visit.
