Aug 22, 2006

traveled to Venice. I also entered his comments around Florence, but since I
didn’t tag it as a “Place to Eat” it wasn’t attached to your request.
Certainly interesting and the gondolas are fun, but they are
everywhere so shop for a deal. We loved the tour of St. Marks but did not
have the opportunity to eat at a nice place there. Tourist traffic seems to have reduced affordable
places but if you want to spend $100 a plate I'm sure you'll be able to find a

in the Etruscan Hills. Beautiful, and only Italians there. I remember doing a grappa tastingand then we danced to live music
with older but very full-of-life Italians. Seemed like a scene out of the
Godfather!(They were all decked out in their best and were smoking big
cigars and drinking hard liquors - straight.)The hotel also has big very
I suggest just asking/following the Italians as there are so
many places. If you see a bar with a baseball game on the tube just keep
going. If it is not soccer then you are in the wrong place and will be
ripped off or disappointed!
