General Santos Vacation Guide
General Santos City is situated in the province of South Cotabato in the southern part of the Philippines. Known to locals as Dadiangas based on the name of the barangay or distict where downtown General Santos is located, the city is also refered to as GSC or GenSan.
General Santos, surrounded by three Sarangani municipalities (Alabel, Malungon and Maasim) and two South Cotabato municipalities (Polomolok and T'boli), has an economy that is essentially agro-industrial. As a major player in the SOCSKSARGEN (for South Cotabato - Sultan Kudarat - Sarangani - General Santos) growth area, it has contributed significantly to the region's resurgence as the Philippine's leading producer of corn, coconut, copra, pineapple, asparagus and rice. Because of its rich soil, favorable rainfall and typhoon-free climate, the area also produces exotic fruits, potatoes, fresh vegetables, cut-flowers and okra. General Santos is a key producer of sashimi-grade tuna; it is not uncommon to hear residents boast that "fish and seafood do not come fresher than in their city." For all these, the titles "Tuna Capital of the Philippines" and "Pineapple Capital of the Philippines" are often attributed to General Santos. The City’s cultural scene comes alive for the celebration of Kalilangan Cultural Festival and Charter Anniversary Tuna Festival. These two festivals are celebrated February and September respectively every year.

Fancy waking up late one morning, and chancing upon the Three Musketeers perched on a broken stool in my mom's makeshift tool shed. The curious trio were marveling at the birds flying all around above them, oblivious of the half-awake man with the camera peeping out the window for a shot or two, th…

We went to Digos City first to meet another friend and there we ate the freshest tuna and prawns I could ever imagine. Then we took a bus from Digos and went to Gensan. I prayed a lot while we were moving along the steep slopes of the Saranggani…
