General Orientation in Toledo Jun 14, 2016
Toledo's old town sits on top of a plateau which is far higher than the surrounding lands which include Toledo's outskirts. This plateau is bordered in the east, west and south by the Tajo river so that access to the old town is only possible from the north. Both, railway and bus station are in the Northeast and a 20 minute walk (steep uphill) away. There are frequent buses running from both stations (1,40 EUR one way as from 2016, ticket available from the driver) to the central bus station of the old town, Plaza de Zocodover.

For the old town, you will need a map. The small, medieval streets of the old town make it difficult to navigate. Usually, a printout from Google Maps or a map in your guidebook is sufficient for basic orientation or use the good old trick of using your digicam and taking a picture of the maps.
